Handmade American Goldfinch Ornament — Original Mosaic Bird Art

Bring a little bit of backyard nature to your Christmas tree with this cheerful handmade American Goldfinch ornament. Created in my distinctive CreeksideMosaic style, this bright yellow, black, and white bird is built from
mosaic pieces and finished with hand-painted feather details.

American Goldfinches are familiar backyard visitors and a favorite of bird lovers who put out feeders to attract them. Their brilliant yellow coloring makes them especially fun to spot, and I wanted to capture that cheerful personality in a small piece of original bird art.

A New Technique for This Goldfinch
One of the things I enjoy most about making my own artwork is experimenting with new techniques. For this goldfinch, I used a paint pen to hand-paint the delicate white markings across the black feathers.
I've never used this technique on one of my birds before, and I really like the extra detail and movement it gives the design. The combination of the sculpted mosaic pieces and hand-painted markings gives this little bird a surprisingly intricate surface.

A small crystal eye adds a subtle sparkle, while copper findings and a black faux-suede hanging cord complete the ornament.

Every piece is designed and handmade by me, Linda Webb, in my CreeksideMosaic studio. This is an original design rather than a mass-produced bird ornament, with each individual mosaic piece contributing to the finished artwork. My pieces are stamped on the back with my artist's logo as a mark of authenticity.

A Little Bird With Plenty of Personality

This American Goldfinch ornament would be a cheerful addition to a Christmas tree, especially for someone who enjoys watching birds in their own backyard.
It also makes a thoughtful gift for a bird lover, birdwatcher, gardener, or anyone who enjoys handmade nature-inspired art.
And although it's designed as an ornament, it doesn't have to be packed away after Christmas. It can be displayed year-round in a nature-themed space, near a window, in a studio, or anywhere you want a little reminder of these beautiful backyard birds.
