The Story Behind *Wild Encounters*

I've always returned home from my travels with something far more meaningful than a souvenir.

I come home with inspiration.

The animals in *Wild Encounters* represent some of my favorite wildlife encounters while exploring the mountains and wild places of the American West. Rather than recreating a single location, I wanted to capture the feeling of those experiences, the excitement, the quiet moments, and the deep appreciation for the natural world they inspired.

By connecting these four animals into one flowing composition, I created a piece that tells a story of adventure, wonder, and our enduring connection to nature.

Why I Created This Piece

For more than twenty-two years, I've been developing my own signature mosaic process to create original wildlife art unlike anything else.

*Wild Encounters* represents the most ambitious piece I've created to date. It brings together several of my favorite wildlife subjects in one statement necklace while introducing handcrafted copper hinges that allow the artwork to move gracefully with the wearer.

Every element—from the original designs to the custom copper hinges—was conceived, designed, and handcrafted in my Illinois studio.

About the Artist

I'm Linda Webb, the artist behind CreeksideMosaic.

For over two decades I've dedicated myself to developing a distinctive mosaic process that transforms tiny individually placed elements into richly textured wildlife art. My work is inspired by the animals, landscapes, and memories that continue to shape my creative journey.

Every CreeksideMosaic design is handcrafted in my Illinois studio and reflects my belief that the natural world is full of extraordinary stories worth remembering.

A Signature Mosaic Process

This necklace is created using the signature mosaic process I've refined over more than twenty-two years of experimentation.

Each tiny element is individually placed by hand to create depth, texture, and movement that cannot be achieved through mass production. Rather than sculpting or painting a flat surface, I build each design piece by piece, resulting in artwork that changes beautifully as light moves across it.

Because every necklace is handcrafted individually, no two pieces are ever completely identical.

Movement Was Part of the Design

Movement became just as important as the animals themselves.

To achieve that, I designed and handcrafted genuine copper hinges specifically for *Wild Encounters*. These custom hinges allow each animal to move independently while maintaining the graceful flow and structural integrity of the necklace.

The result is a statement piece that feels alive as it moves naturally with you—never stiff, never floppy, always balanced.
